AVALON BEACH

Public BBQ

Avalon Beach delivers the quintessential Northern Beaches experience with remarkable consistency. The crescent of sand stretches between dramatic sandstone cliffs, offering conditions that attract beginner to intermediate surfers throughout the year. The southern end features a salt water ocean pool that catches waves during high tide, plus a separate toddler pool for families. Between June and November, the elevated vantage points become prime whale-watching territory as humpbacks migrate along the coastline. The beach itself remains surprisingly uncrowded even during summer, though parking proves challenging on peak days - expect either paid spots or a significant uphill walk. Facilities include clean showers and change rooms, while the adjacent high street sits just minutes away for post-swim coffee or meals. A small skate park and playground round out the amenities. The rock platform walk at the southern end provides another perspective on this remarkably photogenic stretch of coastline.
